The FPS AIX Map Pack 4 is a must have collection of community-made maps for Battlefield 2. The maps have been altered to add the soldier kit information for AIX and to make the files compatible with a Linux server by changing the references to file names to lowercase. Single Player as well as Coop and Conquest is available on almost every map.
So, where is Map Pack 3? We'll, that pack has some issues which have not been resolved yet. This one is ready to go, and folks.
The individual files are available to download from the list below. Download all 8 files together in a pack: FPS_AIX_Map_Pack_4 - 379 mb
BONUS: Here's a fantastic remake of Battleaxe -- the classic Bf1942 original map. This version features Littlebird and Apache gunships. It is a blast in Coop.

Codename_Cascade 5/5
This is a huge air map in this version and is a very fun air assault map. The US carrier is loaded with aircraft and the field is full of armor. Capture the Mountain airbase to gain the "Grand Slam" A-10 and more attack helos. Littlebird helos and the F117a "Stealth" are also featured. This map is so good that it might warrant a 24/7 server...

This iamtheheadhunter map is a re-imagining of the classic map of the same name. This version has littlebird helos and A-10s. The bombing runs on this map are epic. There is a whole division of armor in the field and plenty of distractions in the air. This could very well be run as a 24/7 server, too!

Kasserine_Pass_2008 - 58 mbVolcano_Valley 4/5
A fun assault into and around the extinct, blown-out crater of a volcano. Anyways, it's a great reason for steep terrain with spread out control points. It makes for a fun helo and air map. I enjoy slugging it out on the ground too.

Not what you might think at first, this map is actually set just upstream from the original. The Coop version here is actually half of the whole map, but this is quite fun alternate layout of "Karkand". The flow of game play is different and there's a great place to snipe: good sniper map.

Strike_At_Karkand_2 - 63 mbMajidah_Hill 5/5
Let's be forthright here -- this is Cerbere Landing from BF2142! It's in the BF2 settings, but has almost the same exact layout. This interpretation is very, very fun and I highly recommend it.

Matidah_Hill - 22.3 mbJordan Valley 3/5
A fun light vehicle assault map. It looks like this might have been an experiment or something, but what resulted was a fun time for Coop play. Check out the cave complex and leave the road for the bots. Seriously, I've had some great game play on this map.

Jordan_Valley - 27 mbGiza2 3/5
This map is one which is not quite up to the other map's level. It's got some texturing issues and a few other items which could be improved upon. What works though, is the layout. This is quite fun in a low player count server against lots of bots because of the bottlenecks. If you like "Hold The Bridge" then you'll probably like this one, too.

Giza2 - 46.5 mbShipment 3/5
This also is a seemingly unfinished map meant to reflect the infamous Call of Duty 4 map by the same name. The thing is that this Shipment does work, even if it is lacking things which could make it slick such as: control points, pickup kits and even a loading screen. Perhaps there will be another version. This one is ready for play between a couple of friends in the AIX mod. I sure wish we had a shotgun...

Shipment - 3.3 mbThat's my intial review of these maps of FPS AIX Map Pack 4 after playing them each a number of times. I've altered the Coop 64 GamePlayObjects.con file to have AIX vehicles spawn and to increase spawn count and frequency. The maps themselves have not been altered.

The map pack is quite large at just over 800mb, but these are some of the best of the community-created maps for BF2 and are well worth the download!

Get the FPS AIX Map Pack 1 Fossils Playing Shooters announces new COOP mode AIX server
This game play mode called "COOP" mixes human and computer players, or bots, together in the game. Traditionally, Battlefield games are played human vs. human. We're playing against smart bots who have aimbots included. =) By running in COOP mode with these bots, we are able to enjoy the largest custom BF2 maps with only a few human players in-game with us.
Our server has the RED team of 20 bots vs. our BLUE team of 12 bots. As more human players join the game the underdog BLUE team is strengthened. That works out well as the maps get harder! Friendly Fire is set to 50%, so please check your fire. Spawns have been modified and a lot of things stream-lined to keep things flowing.

To "compensate" for playing against bots versus human players, the bots have been set to run at a very high performance level. They
will kill you if they see you.
We are currently running map from JONES, Hayabusa, SPFreak and The Dark, as well as, a few others. These simply are the best-of-the-best custom maps for Battlefield 2. They bring good times and are well-worth the download(s)! Join us for a fun Battlefield experience!

FPS is playing Custom AIX Maps! These maps have been hand-selected and vine-ripened for your Battlefield enjoyment. AIX kits have been imported and the maps prepped for a Linux server install.
This new map rotation will require some tuning by server-side modding and map order changes. I take requests and would like to hear your feedback.
I have not changed the maps beyond altering certain spawn information to include item type, frequency of spawn and interval between spawns.
The map files themselves do not have additional information added or subtracted unless it was incompatible with AIX. That is with the understanding that I have replaced the standard BF2 kit information in Init.con with the AIX-specific kit information to make the maps work in the AIX mod.
Let's show those bots what makes holes ...

Back to the future go we!
After an extremely disappointing launch of the much-anticipated Frontlines: Fuel of War, the Fossils Playing Shooters have decided to return to familiar territory. We have become partially active again in Battlefield 2142.
Ventrilo gets our attention
In other news, FPS has moved to Ventrilo to take advantage of the higher sound quality. Visit our download section if you need to get a copy of the Ventrilo client.
